Chris Connelly has had a prolific year, marked by his band Sevendials gaining traction and the release of his tribute album, White Phosphorus, to Throbbing Gristle. He is now celebrating his past with The Sheer Action of Fini Tribe, an anthology curated with his bandmates that compiles 47 tracks from the Edinburgh-based group’s peak years (1982-1987). The collection features original singles, unreleased recordings, and contributions from notable figures, all evoking the vibrant culture of the time. Set to be released on October 10, the anthology reflects Connelly’s evolving artistic journey and nostalgia.
What do you think the revival of music from the early post-punk era, as seen in Connelly’s work, tells us about contemporary music’s relationship with its cultural roots?
