Nick Thériault, under the name Antigen Shift and newly signed to Artoffact Records, has released “Because I Want,” marking his first original material since late 2023. The track embodies the label’s signature aggressive and confrontational sound, featuring glitch-laden soundscapes and relentless percussion. Collaborating closely with Jairus Khan of Ad·ver·sary, Thériault and Khan have long addressed important issues like sexism and racism within the industrial scene. In addition to their new material, Antigen Shift has a history of consistent releases, including remixes and the Talk EP.
Given the persistent themes of defiance and social commentary in their music, how do you think artists in the industrial noise scene can continue to address societal issues through their work while pushing the boundaries of their sound?
