Progressive post-punk duo Palais Ideal is set to release their fourth album, Here and Now, on January 16, following their 2022 album Negative Space. Bandmates John Edwards and Richard van Kruysdijk embraced a new creative approach during the recording process, improvising together rather than working separately, aiming to capture the raw energy of their live performances. The album explores themes such as media manipulation and alienation while striving to inspire listeners to form their own thoughts. Produced by Pieter Kloos, Here and Now offers a mix of assertiveness and atmosphere, with pre-orders now available from Dark Vinyl Records.
Given the band’s emphasis on spontaneity and real-time collaboration, how do you think this shift in their creative process might influence the reception and interpretation of their music compared to their earlier work?
