Jeffrey Wilson has unveiled Pull Me Toward the Dark, the third full-length album from his project Deeper Graves, set for release on February 27 via his Disorder Recordings label. The album marks a shift in Wilson’s sound towards a more emotional landscape, incorporating elements of shoegaze and post-punk, differing from the heavier styles associated with his prior bands. The lead single, “Where Do We Go From Here,” accompanied by a video created by Heath Rave, highlights an exploration of solitude and reflection. Wilson describes this album as the closest Deeper Graves will get to a rock sound, a meaningful evolution from previous works.
Given this shift in musical direction, how do you think artists can balance evolution while staying true to their core identity, and what risks do they face in doing so?
