Richard Johnson and Daniel Euphrat of Digital Negative are set to release their new EP, Intersect, which explores aggressive dystopian themes and heavier electronic and industrial sounds. The opening track, "Extensions," is now available, showcasing a shift in lyrical focus towards a more agitated reflection on contemporary issues. Johnson emphasizes the need for this contrast, while Euphrat draws upon his metal influences and a variety of samples. The EP will be released digitally on July 11 through Bandcamp and includes five tracks mixed by Euphrat and mastered by Angel Marcloid. An accompanying music video for "Extensions" has also been unveiled.
Given the band’s evolution from anxiety and alienation to more dynamic and critical themes, how do you think current global narratives influence artistic expression in music today?
