San Francisco’s goth/rock and post-punk band Octavian Winters has dropped “Hermine,” the lead single from their upcoming debut album, following the acclaim for their 2023 EP, The Line or Curve. Drummer Randy Gzebb notes that the track, inspired by late Killing Joke guitarist Geordie Walker, has an “unstoppable momentum” that makes it a live favorite. Vocalist Ria Aursjoen describes her vocal delivery as both “fun and cathartic,” drawing from her metal roots, with lyrics influenced by Hermann Hesse’s Steppenwolf. The single, produced by William Faith, is now available on Bandcamp. The band plans to release their debut album in early 2026, while Aursjoen has also ventured into solo work with her Strand EP.
How do you think the blending of genres within Hermine reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary post-punk music?
