Today marks the release of Lost Illusions Turned into Black Rage, the debut album from French artist Vologne. Featuring eight tracks, the album explores themes of dying hope through emotional atmospheres and harsh soundscapes, drawing on styles like death industrial and rhythmic power noise. This work expands on concepts introduced in Vologne’s previous EP, Total Purge For the Living. Accompanied by visuals from Maëlle Cadoret, the album is out via Steinklang Industries and available on limited cassette and digital formats.
Given the album’s exploration of nihilism and hope, how do you think Vologne’s use of analog synthesis influences the emotional weight of his sound?
