After over a decade of singles, compilations, and an EP, New York’s dark electro band The Sedona Effect is set to release their first full-length album, The Year of the Snake, just in time for Halloween. The album features 10 tracks that showcase their distinct blend of gothic/industrial, EBM, and darkwave, led by frontwoman K Kalliope’s captivating vocals. Among the tracks are three singles that previously appeared on the Cross the Line EP and other compilation features, including a noteworthy cover of "Gloomy Sunday." The album will be digitally released on October 31, with pre-orders available on Bandcamp.
In conjunction with the album launch, the band will perform on October 18 during a special Gothic Vampire Cruise in New York City, featuring various goth artists and DJs.
What does the release of The Year of the Snake say about the evolution of the dark electro genre over the past decade, and how might the band’s unique sound influence the future of similar music styles?
